After reading up on rigging in Trinidad, Marein was worried about our improperly toggled forestay, that had allowed only sideways flexing of the roller reefer over the past 11 years. In order for us to put our trust back in the rigging for the upcoming ocean passage, we had the forestay replaced and fully toggled by Caraïbe Gréement Martinique.
While they were at it, Marein asked them to check the rest of rigging as well. They discovered 2 fractured strands in our starboard intermediate shroud (photo). Needles to say, we had both intermediate shrouds replaced the same day.
